1992-1998 Education

In the spring of 1995, Dan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. In the spring of 1998, Dan earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from the University of Texas, School of Law in Austin Texas. On November 6, 1998 Dan became licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas.

1999-2001
Assistant District Attorney

In 1999, Dan returned to the Rio Grande Valley and began his law and public service career as an Assistant District Attorney in the office of Yolanda De Leon. During this time, he had many jury trials and prosecuted cases from Class C Misdemeanors to Aggravated Felony cases in all courts of Cameron County.

2003-2010
Justice of the Peace

In 2002 Dan was elected Justice of the Peace for Cameron County Precinct 7, and served two terms. While Justice of the Peace, Dan worked to curb truancy in his precinct, encouraged the integration of technology and automation within the court system, and served as an instructor for the Texas Justice Court Training Center. Teaching judges throughout the state was a unique experience that has provided Dan with a special insight into our justice system.

2010 - 2016
Cameron County Commissioner

In 2010 Dan was elected Cameron County Commissioner for Precinct 4, and was re-elected in 2014 to a second term. As Commissioner, Dan was primarily responsible for roads and drainage in his precinct, as well as many important government services county wide.   Dan always worked towards regionalism and economic development by encouraging local cities and counties to work together towards a better future for the entire Rio Grande Valley.

Private Practice

Throughout the time Dan was a JP and Commissioner, he continued to practice law on a smaller scale and second to his primary duties as an elected official. Today however, Dan Sanchez is focused solely on his law practice and his clients, pouring his energy and vast expertise into each individual case. Dan represents clients in Civil, Criminal and Family Law Matters and has tried over 100 Jury Trials to date.
